Microbiology Manager

The Microbiology Manager will be responsible for overseeing all operations of the Microbiology department and managing the microbiological methodologies associated with manufacturing and environmental monitoring to provide accurate facility support results and data. This position reports to the Head of QC and key objectives and responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:

  • Managing the Microbiology Analysts 
  • Developing and validating QC microbiological test methods 
  • Developing laboratory standards and controls and reviewing and approving test results, reporting and SOPs 
  • Managing the microbiological testing aspects of environmental monitoring within the Quality Control function to the requirements of cGMP 
  • Managing the testing schedules of samples associated with in-process, raw material, and final product testing and environmental monitoring to meet project timelines 
  • Supporting product development and CMC regulatory activities 
  • Managing the initiation and closure of OOS, NCRs, Change Controls, Planned Deviations

Minimum Educational Requirements for Competency: (Please attach the copy of any degree, certificate, training as necessary)

  • Minimum B.S. in a scientific discipline, M.S. or Ph.D. highly desirable
  • Strong leadership and communication skills required
  • Minimum 5 years experience in analytical microbiology
  • Experience in managing a microbiology testing laboratory
  • Management experience
  • Experience with quality system
